Oregon's Tyler Wald wrestles in a 182-pound bout during the Bob Downing Scramble on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Sun Prairie High School.

Junior Brandon Liddle earned runner-up honors at the Mid-States Wrestling Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Williams Center in Whitewater.

In the 138-pound title match, Liddle was pinned by Appleton North sophomore Jack Stoffel in the second period. Liddle finished 4-1 at the tournament and scored 35 points.

The Panthers finished 22nd overall at the two-day tournament with 106.5 points. McHenry won the 38-team invitational with 278 points.

Junior Seth Niday defeated Nicolet sophomore Ben Ott with a 6-3 decision to finish third at 152 pounds for Oregon. Niday went 5-1 at the tournament and scored 34.5 points.

At 113 pounds, freshman Tomas Neumann took eighth overall. Neumann was defeated by Hersey freshman Maksim Mukhamedailyev by pin in the seventh-place match.

Evan McGill (120) and Tyler Wald (182) both picked up a pair of victories in their respective weight classes. Ramiro Ramos (126) and John Ruth (160) both earned one victory in their weight classes.

Niday moves up rankings

Niday moved up two spots in the most recent wiwrestling rankings. Niday is currently ranked No. 8 in Division 1 at 152 pounds. His previous ranking was 10. He was the Oregon wrestler to make the state rankings.

Former Badger South foes Milton and Stoughton are both in the team rankings. The Red Hawks are the No. 6 Division 1 team in the state, while the Vikings are an honorable-mention ranked team.
