Hailey Berman put together a big day at the plate during the Oregon softball team’s 12-2 Badger West win over Monroe on Friday, May 6, at Oregon High School.
Oregon got another Badger West win with a 4-1 victory over Portage on Monday, May 9, at Oregon High School.
The win moved Oregon to 12-4 overall and 9-2 in the Badger West. The Panthers are battling Mount Horeb (10-3) for the conference title.
The Panthers followed their win against Monroe by splitting a pair of nonconference games on Saturday, May 7, at Franklin High School.
Oregon beat Franklin 11-6 and lost to Hortonville 5-0.
Oregon 4, Portage 1
The Panthers got some early run support and never looked back. Oregon scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added another run in the second.
Emily Crowe pitched a complete-game, allowing six hits and no earned runs. She struck out nine while issuing no walks.
Lauryn Etienne drove in a game-high two runs.
Oregon 12, Monroe 2
Berman finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a pair of runs. The Panthers broke the game open with a five-run third inning to go up 6-0.
Jordan Baumgartner went 3-for-4 with one run. Hailey Richter drove in three runs. Kate Davis went 2-for-4 to go along with two runs.
Annabelle Monte finished 1-for-4 out of the leadoff spot, scoring twice and driving in a run.
Etienne earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game in six innings of work. Etienne allowed six hits, no earned runs and no walks while striking out four.
Oregon 11, Franklin 6
Down 4-1, Davis connected on a grand slam to give the Panthers a 5-4 lead and Oregon never looked back. Davis’ home run sparked an eight-run third.
Etienne went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. In the circle, Etienne got the win. She pitched three innings, surrendering one earned run and striking out five. Carly Zych tossed four innings of work, allowing four hits and one earned run.
Berman finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Baumgartner had a 2-for-4 performance to go along with two runs and a RBI.
Hortonville 5, Oregon 0
Davis went 3-for-3 in the loss. Oregon collected just four hits in the defeat.
