The Oregon girls basketball team beat Mount Horeb 60-53 for its fifth straight Badger Conference win on Friday, Jan. 7, at Oregon High School.

With the win, the Panthers moved to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the Badger West standings, tied with Madison Edgewood. Reedsburg sits atop the conference with a 7-0 mark.

Sophomore guard Sam Schmitt powered Oregon past Mount Horeb with 23 points. Schmitt knocked down four 3-pointers and also added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Senior guard Emily Mortenson added eight points and dished out a team-best four assists. Sophomore guard Katelyn Studebaker scored six points and collected nine rebounds to go along with a team-high two steals.

Oregon outscored Mount Horeb 35-25 in the first half.
