Waunakee scored two touchdowns on special teams to roll to a 52-7 win over Oregon on Friday, Oct. 1.
The Warriors (7-0, 5-0 Badger Large) scored on a fake punt and on David Emerich’s 95-yard kickoff return.
Oregon quarterback Cameron Gates connected with senior running back Amir Warren on an 80-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Waunakee quarterback Quentin Kenne completed 15 of 17 passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns.
Waunakee took the lead on a fake punt, as Kaden Hooker connected with Andrew Keller on a 57-yard touchdown pass.
With the Warriors leading 10-0, Kenne tossed a 1-yard TD pass to Devin Johnson. He also found Peter James for 17 and 20-yard scoring strikes to help the Warriors take a 31-0 lead at the half.
The big kickoff return by Emerich in the third quarter extended the lead to 38-0.
Waunakee’s Michael Gnorski rushed for 103 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown. Keller, a University of Iowa commit, had four receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Oregon had 268 total yards. Gates completed 5 of 10 passes for 101 yards and one touchdown. Oregon rushed for 171 yards. Warren rushed for 63 yards on 10 carries and senior Teague Szudy ran for 54 yards on 11 carries.
