Oregon junior Dasha Vorontsov and senior Yordanos Zelinski topped the field at the Baertschi Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Albany.

Vorontsov crossed the finish line with a time of 19 minutes, 50.8 seconds. Little Chute’s Ella Pahl earned runner-up honors with a time of 20:26.4 in the 125-runner field. In the boys’ race, Zelinski won with a time of 16:46. Mount Horeb junior Joseph Stoddard placed second with a time of 16:53.6.

The meet was split into large schools and small schools.

The Panther girls finished third in the large school race with 89 points. Little Chute finished first with 55 points. The Oregon boys placed seventh among large schools with 165 points. Little Chute won the large meet with 71 points.

Oregon senior Grace Riedl took 20th with a time of 21:55. Senior Amelia Hermanson and junior Libby Beirne finished right behind Riedl with placements of 21st and 22nd, respectively. Beirne clocked in at 21:57.4, while Hermanson crossed the line at 21:57.8.

Oregon was rounded out with senior Bella Murphy’s 22:58. That time was good for 46th overall.

After Zelinski, the Panthers were paced by junior Wil Cram’s 34th-place finish in the 159-runner field. Cram clocked in at 18:44.6. Senior Odin Beck finished 81st with a time of 19:57.7. The Panthers were rounded out with senior Ty Pieper (21:02.9) and junior Quinton Bush (21:44).

Oregon will compete at the Badger West Conference meet on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Portage High School.
