The Oregon boys tennis team split a pair of matches against Big Eight Conference schools on Wednesday, May 11, at Ahuska Park.
The Panthers beat Maidson La Follette 4-3, but fell to Madison Memorial 5-2.
Oregon stayed perfect in Badger West duals as the Panthers swept past Portage 7-0 in a conference match on Tuesday, May 10, at Oregon High School.
Oregon 4, La Follette 3
Oregon (10-3, 6-0 Badger West) captured three of the four singles matches. Kyle Barnish won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Nicholas Schaefer picked up a hard-fought 6-1, 2-6, 10-6 win at No. 2 singles. At the fourth singles’ flight, Joey Zuehlke earned a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Panthers’ lone doubles win came from Ethan Johnson and Christian Wirtz at No. 2 doubles, collecting a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Madison Memorial 5, Oregon 2
Gordon Zheng won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers, while Josh Dieter and Aaron Hakes teamed up for a 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 victory at No. 3 doubles
Oregon 7, Portage 0
All seven of Oregon’s matches were won in two sets. Barnish won the most competitive match of the day with a 7-6 (8), 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Owen Benck.
Schaefer defeated Emmett Benck 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Samuel Halverson topped Kyle Kinzler 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. At the fourth singles’ flight, Zuehlke swept Mark Schlinkert 6-0, 6-0.
At No.1 doubles, Trelan Hake and Tyler Fisher beat Andrew LaCrosse and Ethan Macomber 7-5, 6-1. Johnson and Dieter teamed up for a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles against Cooper Atkinson and Grady Saalsaa. Wirtz and Hakes swept Jeremiah Jamison and Enzo Rostamo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
