The Oregon Area Senior Center is located on 219 Park St.

Do you remember what you were doing in May 1980?

Here in Oregon, the senior center first opened its doors, as the building was transformed from Paul’s Grocery Store to a combination senior center-library. Before long, the building became too small to continue to house both departments and a new library was built next door, allowing the senior center to expand into the whole building it currently occupies.

Time flies, but 43 years later, the Oregon Senior Center is going strong, and has been a staple of the community ever since. The public is invited to come out to the center and help celebrate its 43rd anniversary with music, food, fun and reflections, starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 at the center, located at 219 Park St.

The Dalton Gang, a Swing Music Quartet, will entertain us with great music from the 30s and 40s. June Dalton, the leader of the quartet, is also the leader of “Ladies Must Swing.” Afterwards, join us for cake and social time. People are asked to RSVP by calling 608-835-580, so preparations can be made to accommodate everyone.
