Village of Oregon hosts 9/11 remembrance ceremony

John Deem, of Audio Contractors, introduces one of the next generation’s first responders at the start of Saturday’s 9/11 Remembrance event. The Oregon Area Wellness Coalition organized the event to honor the 20th anniversary of the 09/11 terrorist attack on the U.S.

Oregonians gathered on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the downtown area to host a remembrance ceremony on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.

Police chief Jennifer Pagenkopf and fire chief Glenn Linzmeier spoke, as did Oregon Wellness Coalition member Deb Bossingham and Greg Graf, Commander of the Oregon-Brooklyn VFW Post #10272. The remembrance ceremony also involved a 21-gun salute and the playing of bagpipes.

A night market and music at Waterman Triangle Park followed after the ceremony.
